Are checkups done by the pediatrician or by a nurse?
At ADÚO, every checkup is always done by your pediatrician. In the Community of Madrid child health programme most checkups are done by nurses and the pediatrician takes part only in some: the newborn visit, 2, 6 and 12 months, and 6 years.
How many well-child checkups are there?
At ADÚO we follow this schedule: newborn checkup (first 7 days), 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12 and 15 months, 2 years and then one checkup a year up to 14. That's the minimum: we adapt it to each child, and some children, because of their circumstances, need to be seen more often.
Can I have checkups at ADÚO and stay with my public health centre?
Yes. You can have checkups and appointments with us and keep using your public health centre for whatever you like, for example the scheduled vaccines. We give you a report after each checkup so you have everything together.
What should I bring to the checkup?
Your child's health record booklet, the vaccination card, the hospital discharge report if it's the first checkup, and any recent reports. And a list of your questions: this is the time to ask them.
Who does the checkup?
One of our three pediatricians: Dr Victoria Fioravantti, Dr Elena Blanco or Dr Gonzalo Oñoro, licensed pediatricians in Madrid. We try to make sure each family always sees the same pediatrician.
Can you do checkups at home?
Yes, baby checkups can be done at your home. Especially in the first months, many families prefer it: the baby stays in and the mother doesn't have to travel. We cover Boadilla del Monte and neighbouring towns.
